Puzzle on 3/8/03
My church is trying to collect a "mile of pennies"
to purchase books for children who don't have them.
How much money is in a mile of pennies?
The solution
I put pennies along a ruler and found that there are 16 pennies in one foot.
I know that there are 5,280 feet in a mile.
5,280 feet x 16 pennies per foot = 84,480 pennies
84,480 pennies / 100 pennies per dollar = $8,44.80
